This print by Blaeu, shows a very early sextant that was designed by Tycho Brahe in 1584 and had a radius of 155 cm. Johannes Blaeu published this design in his Atlas Maior as an appreciation for both his father Willem and Tycho Brahe, where his father was an apprentice.

Description of the use of this sextant in cellar G of the observatorium Stellenborg. This sextant was designed by Tycho Brahe in 1584 and it had a radius of 155 cm.
