One of the earliest mechanical continuous logs, incorporating a dial with three indicators. Marked: “Edw. Massey / LLL patented 1802 / London / 6082”.
LLL stands for ‘Log, Lead, Lookout’.

This is one of the earliest patent ‘Perpetual’ logs, replacing the ‘Common Shiplog’ with the knots on a line.
