The statement 'L.L.L' on some instrument in this display case refers to 'Lead, Log and Lookout'.
Keeping a good lookout during navigation was very important.
Since Hans Lippershey the first telescoop in Middelburg patented in 1608, the telescoop became soon also known and used on ships.
