Large steering wheel from a Congoboat

1/1
This large steering wheel of 1.4 m in diameter sometimes had to be operated by two helmsmen. They were given the commands by the captain or the first mate. Often one could not even see the bow of the ship from behind the steering wheel, let alone have an overview of the waterway.
It comes from a Congo ship, probably ‘Lobito’ (or sister ship). Purchased from Commander Deltare who worked at CMB & CMBC/CMZ
