The frontispiece of the 1620 Mercator-Hondius Atlas. Gerhard Mercator sits on the left and Jodocus Hondius Sr. is on the right. The Hondius family's publishing mark, "The Watching Dog," can be seen above the two men. On top you can see two cross-staffs with three vanes as described by Michiel Coignet, between the terestial and celestrial globes.
