The Almagest is one of Ptolemy’s earliest works. In this scientific treatise from around AD 150, consisting of thirteen books, he describes in detail the mathematical theory of the motions of the planets, the Sun, and the Moon. He lists 1,025 stars arranged in constellations, including their composition and positions. This is the first printed edition based on the original Greek text.
