The Endeavour symbolizes the scientific revolution at sea. It became known as the ship on which the British lieutenant James Cook made his first great voyage of discovery (1768 - 1771), which went to Tahiti and past New Zealand and Australia, but also to the hypothetical southern continet (Terra Australis Incognita). This is the period of the "quest for longitude".

De Endeavour symboliseert de wetenschappelijke revolutie op zee.
