Description

Superbly decorated map of Duynckercke and its vicinity. Wonderful cartouches, ships, and sand banks. Nautical chart of the coast of Walcheren in Zeeland to Boulogne in France. With various cities like Middelburg, Vlissingen, Sluis, Bruges, Oostende, Nieuwpoort, Duinkerken, Grevelingen (Gravelines), Calais and Boulogne. Title in cartouche on the right.
Below the cartouche we find a magnificent view of the coast between Duinkerken and Grevelingen, with lots of ships in the sea and compass rose in the bottom right corner. On top there is an engraved city view on Duinkerken, and below the information that the map is based on the observations of ‘capiteijn Pieter Codde van Enchuysen’. Bottom right is a fine view of Calais.
