First edition of the collected works by W.J. 's-Gravesande containing Huygens' major works on physics and mathematics, i.a. dealing with clocks, the rings of Saturn, geometry and optics.
Complete work of Christiaan Huygen, with portrait, [16], 776, [18] pp. Ill. with 2 identical engr. vign. on title and 56 folding engraved plates Including "Tractatus de lumine" which proposed that light travelled in waves, and his article on the pendulum clock "Horologium oscillatorium".

Some browning and spotting. Cont. calf, spine with 6 raised bands, red title label (one joint broken, a bid rubbed).
