Description

Very rare first and coloured edition, about this remarkable voyage done by Jacob Lemaire on the request of his father Isaac Lemaire together with Willem Schouten Van Hoorn. Isaac was one of the big owners of the VOC, but he left the VOS and wanted to bypass their monopoly of the Maghelane street. Jacob died afte beyeing capture for breaking this monopoly, and the VOS made this book without even mentioning the expedition leader Jacob Lemaire!They discover the street of Lemaire and de Cape Hoorn south of the street of Maghelane and made this remarkable circumnavigation.
