The Carta Marina of Olaus Magnus, Venice 1539 & Rome 1572 . The Carta marina is the first map of the Nordic countries to give details and place names, created by Swedish ecclesiastic Olaus Magnus and initially published in 1539.
Book with maps, reproductions of letters, and illustrations from woodcuts plus 2 large reproductions of the Carta Marina map, 1 as folding frontispiece and 1 in the rear pocket in 2 plates. 25.5x17.5 cm (10x7"), red cloth, spine lettered in gilt.
